Hi, My 2.0 TDI 2009 170 bhp Q5 is in for its 4th service, I had a call from the service department to say that my timing belt requires changing at 75K miles. I told them to proceed as I have now done 73K but when I got home I checked my service book and it says toothed belt requires changing at 114K
Ok maybe with these new belts it's too soon to tell but I can't imagine Audi taking the decision to change to mileage only intervals lightly. My service book states the cambelts on 1.6 and 2.0 CR tdi's are changed at 133k with no time interval.
The belt thing wasn't perhaps overrated when the change interval was only 60,000 km (40,000 miles) for automatics and 90,000 km (55,000 miles) for manuals. But now that they are all 160,000 km across the board, it's a non-issue; even my Hondas needed a belt change earlier than that.
